Oil Tank Accessories

Installation of oil tanks requires standard accessories to ensure safety, as well as proper utility. These equipment consists of gauges and monitoring systems that are used to check the measure levels and purity of the oil content. Some of the essential equipment is listed below.

Sight gauges are used to get a clear reading of the contents of the oil tank. They are tubes made of unbreakable material and installed in accordance to the tank depth, and contain self-closing valves. Usually made of clear PVC tubes, they operate via a push-button mechanism to indicate the oil level.

Mechanical level gauges are also custom made to suit the tank depths, and are usually made of anti-shock plastic material. Used along with pressure gauges or vacuum gauges to test pumps, and protect gauges against pressure rises.

Oil tank dryers are located within the oil tank, and absorb water from kerosene, diesel, bio-fuels and petrol. Dryers should be checked during each inspection and replaced whenever they are full. They are used in a variety of tanks, such as hydraulic tanks, transfer tanks, storage tanks and saddle tanks.

Oil level monitors help users to find the oil level at a glance. These monitoring units are made to fit into all tanks, whether they are plastic or steel, up to a height of three meters. They are normally designed to reset automatically after power failure. They may also use transmitters or receivers to transmit up to about two hundred kilometers.

Ultrasonic level monitors are advanced systems comprising electronic monitors that allow uses to check the level within the oil storage tank, even from their home. A transmitter fitted on the top of the storage tank senses the oil level, and a battery-operated transmitter sends the information via radio signal to as far as two hundred meters. The receiver is plugged into electrical socket, and the liquid level is displayed on an LCD monitor.

Besides, level monitor alarms, bund alarms, vents, lockable filler caps, anti-siphon devices and oil spill kits are other essential accessories. Oil spill kits help clean up minor spillages during deliveries, and meet specifications and regulations.
