Bunded oil tanks (tank only)

Bunded oil tanks are particularly designed to ensure safe storage and supply of fuels like diesel, kerosene and gas oils. They normally contain pumps powered by electricity, and nozzles that shut off automatically.  With dispensing hoses to supply the fuel, they are connected to heating systems and generators through sockets.

Bunded steel tanks, available in small or medium sizes are perfect storage containers for contractors, bus companies and local authorities to supply industrial fuel on a large or medium scale. They are available in several types namely, steel tanks, gravity feed tanks, single skin steel tanks and rectangular plastic tanks.

Gravity fuel tanks are useful in places that lack power supply, such as farms. The tank consists of a bund that is supported well above the ground level, and is suitable for several kinds of fuel namely, diesel, bio-diesel and red diesel. Single skin storage tanks, made of steel, are bunded tanks, which are usually preferred for domestic storage purposes, to store fuels like diesel.

Bunded plastic tanks are used for commercial and domestic storage, and they are better known because of their durability and safety features. Rectangular bunded tanks are prevalent, and are packed with safety features to prevent accidental leaks and spillages, thereby safeguarding the environment. The presence of a big lockable lid makes filling easier.  There is absolutely no hassle of rusting, eliminating any need for painting, as they are made from polyethylene plastic of medium density, wit UV stabilized features. The strong and robust design tends to withstand tough environmental conditions.

It is highly recommended that every domestic oil storage installation should be bunded. Besides, bunding of storage tanks for commercial, industrial, agricultural and institutional purposes is mandatory. Advanced technology has facilitated the provision of electronic remote gauges for checking content levels. Apart from that, bund alarms and overfill prevention instruments are also available as optional instruments.

Electronic monitors consist of transmitters that have sensors to check the fuel level. These transmitters are placed atop the fuel tank, and are operated by batteries. The monitored information is set via radio signals periodically, and reaches the user’s home or office, which could be located over a hundred meters away. A receiver is plugged into a socket at the user’s end to receive the transmitted signal. The information is then visually displayed on an LCD display unit. The transmitter requires a specific diameter to be fitted into the tank.

A bund should be purchased along with the oil storage tank, in order to complete the installation of the bunded tank. The tank system must ensure peace of mind for the user, with a capability of holding hundred percent of the contents of the oil storage tank. This in turn will ensure safe distribution of essential fuels like diesel, kerosene, red diesel and gal oil among consumers.
